Partition block or load-bearing block? Choosing per wall
If a wall carries load, thickness is not the only measure: its structural role decides the block.
If a wall carries load, thickness is not the only measure: its structural role decides the block.
The first question is not how many centimetres the wall should be, but whether it carries load at all. A clay partition block is made to divide space and should not sit under structural load; a load-bearing block has higher compressive strength and can act as a structural wall in low-rise buildings.
Once the wall’s role is settled, pick the thickness: 10 cm for light internal dividers, 15 cm between units where sound insulation matters, and 20 cm for external and load-bearing walls. In every case the final choice has to agree with the structural drawings.
